[Quality Experience]
[Quality Assurance]
[Quality Materials]
While
many factors contribute to the quality of a casting, experience
and knowledge are probably the most important. When the U.S.
Casting Company was formed, the managerial staff brought to
the new company a combined total of more than 200 years experience
as foundry men. Today, U.S. Casting Company is well-known for
our attention to detail, insistence on the highest quality in
equipment and materials, and our commitment to testing and quality
control. However, two centuries of foundry experience and tradition
is what really assures our customers of the highest standards
in steel and iron castings.
 |
U.S. Casting's
tradition demands perfection in every phase of production.
To assure this quality, tests and checks are performed from
molding to final inspection. |
| Our in house
spectrometer checks metal chemistry during melting, prior
to tap out and then again while filling molds. Our computer
information system keeps track of every heat as to chemistry
and which castings were poured from every heat of metal.
|
|
|
Test blocks
and sample buttons are maintained from every heat of steel
and iron that we produce.
|
| From the
moment an order is received by U.S. Casting, until the finished
casting is shipped to the customer, control of casting quality
is our highest priority. For example, our Quality Control
Manager is a fully qualified graduate metallurgist. In addition,
we |
|
maintain
a complete Process Control Manual.
Both chemical and physical-mechanical tests are conducted
consistently and finished castings may be subjected to Brinell
hardness testing and such non-destructive testing measures
as ultrasound, magnetic particle, MagnaFlux and Radiography. |
|

|
| At
U.S. Casting, quality control goes well beyond standard
laboratory testing. Daily testing of our sand system provides
consistently better molds which leads to better quality
castings for our customers.
In addition, U.S. Casting utilizes the Foseco Kal |

ladle lining system. Using a ladle liner only once means
a cleaner molten metal which helps produce finer castings.
Add to all of this the use of certified melting scrap and
alloys and it's clear why U.S. Casting can and does produce
the highest standard castings at competitive prices.
|
 |
U.S.
Casting has always maintained the philosophy that the end product
is very much dependent on the raw materials that go into our
steel and iron making. Using only certified and tested scrap
has always been a practice at U.S. Casting. Samples are taken
and tested from every load of delivered scrap to assure that
only the best quality scrap is used in our castings.
